I just can't do it...

I do not consider myself very uptight about many things. Most of the time I can roll with whatever. But as  few friends have told me lately, I am a little loose with my tongue (pregnancy mouth??) so here is my list of things I can't do....and as you can see, I am successfully passing this list down to the next female child in my family....

There are just a few things in life I can't bring myself to do. One of them, is to drink milk out of the cereal bowl after finishing the last bite of cereal. My mother would be horrified if I did, and somehow, the horror she would feel is suddenly MY horror. I can't even walk in the cafeteria in the mornings at school b/c so many of the children drink their milk from the bowl. This is silly on many levels (the least of which is that these children need every drop of milk they can get and its just going to get tossed into the trash) but I still can't do it. I have never let my children do it, of course. Ansley recently stayed with a friend and came home sufficiently shocked that other families do this. Truth be told, Jamey does it. But as he never eats cereal in front of me or the children, I don't really care. And I really don't care that others do it and I realize this is ridiculous. But I just can't do it...

Know what else I can't do? Allow myself or my children to go to breakfast in a hotel while wearing pajamas. I know its a continental breakfast. I know we know no one there and I shouldn't care what they think. But if I am honest, I am not concerned about what they think. I care what I think and what I think is that pajama pants are for your hotel room and not for sitting at the tiny round table next to me while I am forced to see your sleepy Garfield lounge pants while I eat my bagel.

I also can't bring myself to touch anything in a public bathroom. My children flush public toilets with their feet b/c that is how I do it. I am sorry for those of you using your hands, but there is nothing that will convince me NOT to use my foot to flush. There is no amount of soap or hand sanitzer in the world worth it to me. Ansley can complete all bathroom tasks without actually touching the surface of anything in a public restroom. Talk about one proud mama.

So there is my I just can't do it list for now. I am sure there is much more, but its cereal-before-bedtime time and you understand how important that is, I am sure. And there will be no drinking the milk out of the bowl....

This post cracks me up. I have the funniest mental picture of you and Ansley walking around a bathroom with your hands up in the air like a surgeon who has just scrubbed in for surgery and flushing with your foot. I am a foot flusher, grab everything with a paper towel person myself and am trying to teach Peyton. Lord knows what happens when he goes to the bathroom with his dad......I sure don't want to know! I also take every opportunity for him to pee outside so he doesn't have to touch anything....this won't be happening as he gets older....
